Northern Nuru — Often disputed over between the tribes and kingdoms of Nuru and the Telkhine Republic, this liminal space is a hub of trade between these lands. From gold, ivory, and incense to far more rare materials of a magical nature, the towns here might seem near destitute but serve as important stations for trade routes.

Red Fingers — The sands of this region of the desert are red, looking as if they were soaked in the blood of the thousands of battles that have taken place here. However, this area of the desert gets its name from the tall, thin precipices that jut out of the landscape, resembling giant’s hands grasping out of the dunes.

The Gate Towns — Hazimi, Tumai, Moto, Maffi, and Hewe are frontier towns only able to survive because of the precious resources and luxury goods that pass through them. While kingdoms might claim them, they are often forgotten by tax collectors as the inhabitants have a certain independent streak that wards away any authority.

Ruins of Charkamet — Ancient and haunted by the souls of the inhabitant who once lived here, only the most foolhardy explorers dare to venture through the sands to this forlorn, half-buried city that was once the capital of the domains of the Crocodile King.

Tower of the Majii — Said to still be inhabited by a cadre of Majii, magical and astrological adepts journey here to learn the most sacred and secretive techniques of their crafts. However, the desert surrounding the tower is unkind, full of sinkholes and caverns that will swallow careless travelers.

Gabbe’s Peak — The highest mountain in the range that stretches along the coast of the Mare’On, Gabbe’s Peak is home to a sacred band of assassins, the Apedi. Living in the caves within the mountain, these deadly killers are all Nurusiim adherents to the demigod Apedemak, son of Nuru.

Abnaawaa

Abnaawaa are a mysterious jackal-headed peoples, sometimes called the cynocephali by outsiders, who live deep in the desert.

They are adherents to the cults of the demigod jackal-headed children of Obmhann. His sons are Wepwawet, Khentyamentiu, and Duamutef, and his daughters are named Qébéhout and Yineput. Each presides over a different element of the cult of Obmhann ReHeaded with their Abnaawaa servants performing the most ancient rituals. Though the cult is strongest in Rhodezephyrus, there are significant numbers of human and elfien adherents who live with the Abnawaa in the Desert of Nuru and the Desolate Wastes west of Tetricala in Northern Rhodezephyrus.
