Nurusiim, also known as Amab’hesimad, are the Lionmen of Nuru. After going through the Ordeals to transform into these formidable creatures, true devotees of the Sun God, Nuru, are given supernatural strength and endurance along with the visage of a lion and skin so thick it can resist iron weapons.

These Ordeals are shrouded in mystery but what historians have been able to gleam from fragmentary knowledge is that an Adherent must go out into the desert alone and survive for 40 days before returning as a Nurusiim.

Apedemak was the greatest of the Lionmen warriors of all time and was turned into a minor deity by Nuru for his strength and piety. He is now often worshiped by the Nurusiim.
