Though it was the original habitation of the Families that founded the Ten Kingdoms (the Deciregna), Isulstad would have become a purely sacral place if it had not become the center of a protection racket provided by privateer mercenaries hired by the Priests of Justice which led to it becoming the center of international trade from the Turquoise Sea to the Mare’On to the Smoking Sea. No cities, even the Twin Cities Chendisen and Shath-Raêka (of Knowledge and Wealth) conduct as much trade as is brought together on the island-spanning city of Isulstad.
