Notes on the brethren of war Girdad and Yadabaal — by Harrold T. Beauregard

Millenia ago, before the Diaspora of the Children of the Gods, the Demon Lords Yaldabaal and Girdad ruled over vast swaths of land upon the earth. They chained their servants to their will, turning the land into a mirror image of their hoary, demonic visages. These two Minotaur Demon Lords are the spawn of Obmhann and Nuru. Brothers, Yaldabaal and Girdad were created to rule over lesser mortal beings benevolently but soon they grew to enjoy using ruling with an iron first. In time, the brothers fought though, drawing in their many servants and allies. Quickly, the destruction became widespread. Whole continents were made devoid of life, before the Gods could react, and stop the destruction of their demonic children.

Girdad agreed to kneel to the will of the Gods, while Yaldabaal fought on, promising eternal war upon all. Yaldabaal then captured Girdad in a ruse, and unable to kill his kin outright, because of his protective magics, Yaldabaal sent Girdad to the 6th Circle of the Abyss, a realm of eternal frustration and pain. Girdad has suffered there since. Eons of torture and pain.

Yaldabaal was then crushed by the Gods, who would not stand for one of their spawn to oppose them. Using his mighty hammer, the God Thelune banished him to the 9th Circle of the Abyss, to forever be torn to shreds and remade. A realm even worse than Girdad’s fate.

Yaldabaal’s cult has grown greatly in recent years though, while that of Girdad has always stayed small. Few Warlocks seek out the true Justice of Demons, the Rule of Girdad, while most follow the easy path, which leads to Yaldabaal and his bloodlust fury. Yaldabaal’s followers now seek to bring their Demon Lord back from the Abyss though. In a series of terrible rituals, spread across Thelune’s Gap, they will sacrifice a great number of virgins to open a gate to the 9th Circle of the Abyss for Yaldabaal to return.

It has come to my attention that Girdad does not wish to allow this to happen, so he has turned one of his fallen servants into an undead, making them his High Priest of Horns, to serve as his semi-mortal voice upon the earth. To stem the tide of decay, he has placed a pair of mighty horns, upon his head. The large twisted protrusions grow directly from his skull. If he were to remove the horns, his skin and body will immediately begin to decay very rapidly. Such is the curse of my friend, and fellow undead, Kevorin.
